Frustrating!

So I am having a very frustrating week. The place where I wanted the ceremony to be held decided that it is too many people and they won't allow us to have it there. Also, the preacher I wanted, Dr. Head, the one who baptized me can't marry us. I wrote him this really sweet note since he is retired now, but he had already committed to a revival and even called that church to get out of it (which is so sweet)! But, of course, they have scheduled their homecoming that weekend as well and he can't possibly get out of it. At least I did get the linens done this week from Metro and the only major thing I have left is flowers. I did get the cake and photographer when I went down to the beach a couple of weekends ago. Oh yeah! I also finished my exams, which means I put our engagement pictures up on facebook! Check them out when you get a chance. Save the Date magnets will be coming soon!

Thanksgiving Break

So, over Thanksgiving Break I got my engagement pictures back. All 2157 of them! I haven't even looked through all of the proofs yet, but I have looked at all of the ones the photographer picked. I also tried on dresses at 2 places in Lynchburg, VA! I found some I liked and put them on hold. I really really like one, so I might be updating soon! I am also meeting with my wedding planner this Saturday and possibly doing cake testing! I have finally picked the style of cake I want. Now I just need to work on my Save the Dates!

Wedding Planner!

So I officially talked to my wedding planner yesterday to tell her all about things I want and things I am willing to compromise on. Her name is Nannette Kallstead and her website is www.thepropersetting.com (I LOVE the name!). I am working on the exact ceremony location - I know it will be on the oceanfront, but I have to find a house to rent! I am trying to go dress shopping soon, but just in Lynchburg so my Mom will get an idea of what it is like (she is the one who wants to go in Lynchburg). I applied for Say Yes to the Dress (yes, you have to fill out an application!), but if they don't get back to me in time for me to go to NYC during the holidays, I probably won't do it. Mom has never been to NYC and I have never been at Christmas time, so I wanted to take her. I am definitely going to talk to J.Crew about the bridesmaids dresses over Thanksgiving (a distribution center is located in Lynchburg and I can talk to my Aunt Sharon who used to work for them). I am still waiting on my engagement pictures to be mailed to me - she took 2157 pictures!!! I saw a preview of them and I love them! She said they were being mailed out over Thanksgiving, and a set is going to Raleigh and one set to Bedford, so hopefully I will have them soon! Check facebook for when I get them in!

Wedding Date!

Ok! So I officially have a wedding date! June 19, 2010!

Here's the story: As some of you may know, I was trying for an August date. Well, my little brother has a high school scrimmage football game on the day that I was looking at (August 14th). For whatever reason, his coach is really strict about everything and my Dad was pretty mad that Matthew would have to miss this (I mean it is his senior year, but it is my wedding). My Dad suggested June, which is really soon! I told him I would compromise only if I could have a wedding planner (that is waaayy too much for me to do so soon, AND do this little thing called graduate and find a job). He said he would pay for one! We booked the reception area already and now have to work out all the details, but I am officially in their books! The reception will be held at the Whalehead Club at the OBX! I'm so excited!

Engagement

So here are all of the details from our engagement!

First there is some background information you need to know:

1. I knew that Rich was ordering a ring, but I did NOT know when he was going to propose.
2. This was apparently the 3RD TIME he had planned it!
3. I am VERY HARD to surprise!

Okay,.... so now here is how it happened!

I took the FE exam this Saturday, which is an 8 hour engineering exam. Yes, it was long and boring and very exhausting. I knew we were going to 518 West after my test, but since this is my favorite restaurant, I thought he was being nice. I had a suspicion that he would propose, but it wasn't a major one. When I FINALLY got back from the FE exam (I started the exam when it was dark and left the exam when it was dark), I asked Rich what he was going to wear to the restaurant. He said he was just going to wear jeans and it would be ok if I just wore jeans and a sweatshirt. Now Rich is mister dress up now since he has a job where he has to dress up, so I was unsure about him proposing that night. While at the restaurant, I noticed Rich messing with his jacket pocket when we were first sitting down, so I thought something was up. While eating dinner, Rich was sweating pretty badly, I mean I couldn't see it but he was wiping his brow A LOT! I felt fine in the restaurant when normally Rich feels fine and I'm cold, so I thought him being warm was somewhat normal. We finished dinner and dessert (the only restaurant where I EVER eat dessert) and were waiting for the bill. I thought by now it was not going to happen because it was already so late. Then, all of a sudden Rich reached across the table and grabbed my hand. I knew right then that this was it! I also immediately got nervous/excited (even more nervous from my nervousness leftover from my exam)! He said, "Amanda, I love you very much and you would make me the happiest guy in the world if you would marry me." Then, he got down on one knee beside me and said, "Will you marry me?" I, you guessed it, said yes! Then I hugged him and our waitress brought out roses that he had dropped off earlier that day when he stopped by and talked to the manager. Everyone in our area of the restaurant started clapping and congratulating us. I started to get really nervous with everything going on, and had to excuse my self to the bathroom (after an 8 hour test, a giant brownie with gelatto, and a proposal - yeah just got a little sick from all of the butterflies in my stomach - no more brownie after that!) When I came back, Rich was paying the bill and we were out the door (a few people asked to see my ring!). We made it to the car and started the phone calls! Oh yeah, and we were riding back, and Rich asked for something in the glove compartment. I opened it and there were tissues everywhere! I started to ask him why there were so many tissues, but then I saw the DVD The Proposal. Rich had covered it with tissues in case I went in the glove compartment for something! I thought it was really cute since I really liked that movie! So anyway, I had to keep it quiet for 2 days! 2 whole days! I wanted my candlelight ceremony, so I didn't tell ANY of my sorority sisters, not even my roommate. I even kept the roses in my bathroom so she wouldn't see them at all! I met with our president and we set up my candlelight. It was so hard to keep quiet for 2 days and keep my family and Rich's friends quiet too! My ring is so beautiful and this was the perfect engagement for me! I am so happy and everyone keeps telling me that I look really happy!

Well, that's our story! I'm still so excited and now I can finally wear my ring in public!
